Fluker-Oakley endorsed by Rep. Tyler

Marking the first endorsement by an elected official in the 12th Suffolk District race, Rep. Chynah Tyler (D-Roxbury) on Monday endorsed candidate Brandy Fluker-Oakley. The 12th Suffolk District includes parts of Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park and Milton.

"Brandy has proved to be a strong and capable leader and I am proud to endorse her in her bid for state representative," said Rep. Tyler. "As an elected official, it's important to support candidates who are passionate and determined as those are the leadership characteristics necessary to serve Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park and Milton. Simply put, Brandy is that person!"

Fluker-Oakley, a Mattapan based-attorney, former teacher and partner at a local nonprofit, is one in a four-person field of candidates competing to decide a successor for state Rep. Dan Cullinane, who announced last year that he would not seek re-election.

"I am humbled to receive my first endorsement from Representative Tyler and am working on many more,” said Fluker-Oakley.

The two women and two men, all Democrats, that have been certified to appear on the ballot in the Sept. 1 primary election include Fluker-Oakley, Cameron Charbonnier, Stephanie Everett, and Jovan Lacet. The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3, the same day as the presidential election.
