Teen critical after being dragged several blocks by two robbers in a car, police say

A teenager remains in critical condition at a local hospital after a robbery Friday night that ended with the robbers closing their car window on his arm, which kept him trapped outside the car as they sped down Gallivan Boulevard at a high rate of speed for several blocks - at one point even blasting through a red light - State Police say.

Police found the teen, unconscious and near death, on Gallivan Boulevard, near Nevada Street.

State Police say they arrested both men involved in the robbery - Kenneth Ford, 23, of Roxbury and Dejon Barnes, 18, of Dorchester - at a West End party early today.

According to State Police, the victim met with the two men on Gallivan Boulevard late Friday with a smart phone the two claimed they wanted to buy. They stayed in the car - one rolled down his window - as the victim negotiated with them through the window.

During the interaction between the two men in the car and the victim, who was on foot, the suspects hooked the victim’s arm in the car by closing the car window on the arm, and then drove off at a high rate of speed, dragging the victim alongside the moving car for several city blocks.

Evidence indicates that the suspect vehicle passed through a red light at the intersection with Washington Street and continued to travel away from the initial scene. The victim was located on the ground on Gallivan Boulevard, just prior to Nevada Street, unresponsive with severe injuries.

Barnes and Ford were initially charged with unarmed robbery, but will likely face additional charges, State Police say.

Innocent, etc.
