Marine Corps Honor Run on Saturday morning at Carson Beach draws a crowd

Over 1,000 runners will participate in Saturday morning’s Boston Marine Corps Honor Run 5K, which starts and ends at Carson Beach. This year’s race is dedicated to the memory of Sergeant Andrew K. Farrar Jr., USMC of Weymouth. Sergeant Farrar enlisted in 1998 and two tours of duty. He was killed in action on his 31st birthday, January 28, 2005.

Sergeant Farrar’s brother, Jason Farrar, a Quincy College student, United State Marine Corps veteran and Weymouth firefighter will be running along with the Quincy College community, friends, fellow veterans and active duty officers.

The funds raised will benefit the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, the oldest and largest provider of need-based scholarships for military children, with a particular focus on those whose parent has been killed or wounded in combat or have demonstrated great financial need.

All participants will receive an official race T-shirt and can pick-up their bib numbers and T-shirts on race day at the registration tent beginning at 7 a.m.
