Woman finds burglar in son's room, padlocks him in until police can arrive

The Boston Police Department reports arresting a man they say broke into a home on Greenwich Street early Thursday only to fall asleep on a couch after the homeowner locked him into her son's room.

According to police, after using a chain and padlock around 4 a.m. to secure the burglar in place, the elderly homeowner went down to District C-11 to report the unwanted presence:

"Officers responded to the location, approached the rear door, knocked loudly, and announced their presence. Upon receiving no response, officers utilized the keys to the padlock and opened the door. Officers located the male suspect who was lying on a couch and appeared to be sleeping. Officers attempted to wake the suspect several times to no avail. Finally the suspect awakened, jumped up and began shouting at the officers. After a brief struggle, officers were able to subdue the suspect."

Rene Nguyen, 27, of Dorchester was charged with breaking and entering in the night time and resisting arrest.
