New name, logo – it’s Dot House Health

DotHouse Health celebrated the official dedication of its new name and logo with a ribbon cutting event on Tuesday that featured former Congressman Joseph P. Kennedy as the keynote speaker.

Formerly known as the Dorchester House Multi-Service Center, the health center has long been dubbed the “DotHouse” and the new identity— rolled out last fall— seeks to embrace that and emphasize the health care service and values that are central to the center’s mission.

Kennedy noted that his involvement at Dot House Health stretches back to the 1970s when he was a student at Milton Academy. Sidelined by a football injury, Kennedy took the MBTA to Fields Corner to help teach young immigrants how to speak and read English.

“Dorchester is turning another page,” Kennedy said of the center’s new identity.

Tuesday’s event also included remarks from State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry and Jim Hunt II, the president and CEO of the Mass League of Community Health Centers.

Dot House Health CEO Walter Ramos noted that the health center’s mission includes offering a range of services— from financial literacy to swimming and fitness.

“We keep you well— and that’s what we do well,” Ramos said.
