BPS back-to-school hotline is up and running

Boston Public Schools (BPS) parents can get back-to-school information and learn about school assignments by calling the multilingual BPS Back-To-School Hotline at 617-635-9046. Interim Superintendent John McDonough has launched the hotline early this year, at the end of June, to enhance customer service efforts for families with children in summer school. Since June 30, operators have responded to more than 2,000 calls and remain ready to answer a wide variety of questions from parents and students.

“As the first day of school approaches we know Boston Public Schools families have many questions,” said Denise Snyder, Senior Director for Welcome Services. “Our Hotline team is ready to take their calls, often saving them a trip to one of our Welcome Centers. Whether it’s a question about enrollment, school hours, or a uniform policy, our staff is available to provide families with the information they need to start the school year off right.”

The hotline is open Monday through Friday from 8:30a.m. – 5p.m. Beginning the first day of school (Wed., Sept. 4) the hotline will expand its operating hours to 8a.m. – 6p.m. The hotline will remain up and running through September 12. The first day of school for most students in Grades 1-12 is Thurs., Sept. 4. Kindergartners begin school on Mon., Sept. 8.
