CGR ON MHP: Hoping to get some national attention on the race, former state Rep. Charlotte Golar Richie will appear on MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry Show during the 11 a.m. hour this morning. Other panelists include Allentown, PA Mayor Ed Palowsky, journalist Farai Chideya, and political columnists Bob Franken and Robert George, according to the campaign. The show’s site says it will tackle “the role that race is playing” in elections in Boston, New York and Detroit, and “what on earth we are to make of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s comments in New York magazine.”
THE DAY AHEAD: State Rep. Marty Walsh has 7 items on his Sunday schedule, including an annual vets cruise at the Old Colony Yacht Club in Dorchester, a 10:45 East Boston meet-and-greet at St. Lazarus Church Hall, the starting line for the MSPCA Walk for Animals on Boston Common, a 2 p.m. Mission Hill meet-and-greet at Penguin Pizza, a 3:45 p.m. West Roxbury house party, and a 5 p.m. loft party in Fort Point. Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley will attend the opening of a new campaign office at 146 Maverick St. in East Boston around noontime. Bill Walczak, co-founder of the Codman Square Health Center, attends 11 a.m. services at the Greater Love Tabernacle Church in Dorchester, then heads to a classic car show in Dorchester Park. At 2 p.m., he’s canvassing in Jamaica Plain. City Councillor At-Large Felix Arroyo swings by the Brazilian Independence Day Festival in Allston at 2 p.m., then canvasses in Mission Hill at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m., he visits a Mt. Pleasant annual backyard party. A 5 p.m. block party on Saint Rose St. in JP and a Roslindale “community conversation” at 6 p.m. are also on his schedule. District 5 Councillor Rob Consalvo starts the day at Dorchester Youth Soccer kick-off at Pope John Paul Park at 8:15 a.m., and attends 9:30 a.m. services at the Free Pentecostal Church in Dorchester. At 10:45 a.m., he attends services at the St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Roxbury, before finishing up at 4:30 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant annual block party in JP.
FORUM ON CANDIDATES OF COLOR OPEN TO ALL: A forum that was first focused on candidates of color will be open to all 12 candidates, organizers said in a release on Saturday. “The event is open to all, including all candidates,” the release said. The discussion is set for Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. at the corner of Crawford and Warren Streets, apparently outside the Freedom House, the original location for the forum.
