City golf courses to open on March 17

Boston’s pair of municipal golf courses, including the William Devine course at Franklin Park, will fully open on Saturday, March 17, from dawn to dusk. The other course is the George Wright, located in Hyde Park.

The recently–renovated Devine course has been partially open, with the clubhouse available for use. The city renovated the course’s fairway, the 16th hole, and new tees at the 4th, 7th and 15th holes, according to the Menino administration.

The course, which includes 5,961 yards, is considered the second oldest golf course in the nation. In the 2011 season, 32,000 rounds of golf were played.
