Thursday meeting to detail Ryan Playground fixes

The state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will host a public meeting at the Foley Senior Residences on Thursday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m. to present plans for a new water feature, as well as spray elements and site improvements, at the Ryan Playground on River Street in Mattapan.

This is a follow-up to an initial meeting held on April 12 to discuss proposed imrovements at the site, which state officials hope to begin this fall with a completion date set for May 2012.

The existing wading pool at the Ryan Playground will remain open for the 2011 season. The cost of the improvement project is budgeted as $800,000, according to the DCR. In addition to the new wading pool and spray deck, DCR will be making various improvements to the site, installing a shade structure, shower tower, drinking fountain, hoop bicycle racks, new benches, upgraded picnic tables, and other elements.

More details on the proposal is available at the DCR's website.
