Police dog aids capture of car theft suspect

A police dog aided officers early Thursday morning in collaring Dason Alves, a 21 year-old Dorchester accused of breaking and entering into a car.

After receiving a report around 1 a.m. of a male attempting to steal somebody’s car, police came upon a suspect matching the description called in by the victim on Dix St. The suspect fled and police created a perimeter and called in a K-9 unit.

A police dog, Ajax, found the suspect hiding in the bushes nearby.

Police officers then brought over the victim, who identified the suspect as the one who was breaking into her car.
