Grove Hall’s Freedom House will get $1 million in state funds to help build a new headquarters on the site of its present Crawford Street home. The challenge grant was announced by Governor Deval Patrick on Wednesday. Freedom House will need to raise $1 million to match the state funding in order to get the grant. The organization, started in 1949 by Muriel and Otto Snowden, focuses on issues of poverty, educational achievement, and racial disparities in underserved neighborhoods.
