The Pearl, one of Boston’s most celebrated Black-owned restaurants, is closing its Dorchester location.
According to a statement issued today, its owner has made the “difficult decision” the close effective Sunday, Jan.25.
The Pearl’s newer location in Brighton will remain open.
“When you build something with purpose and authenticity, the people it’s meant for show up. I’m going to miss the community we built, and the bonds we formed with our tight-knit neighborhood since we opened in May 2021,” said Mika Winder, owner of The Pearl. “We were grateful for the opportunity to operate two thriving restaurants after opening our Boston Landing location in February 2025, welcoming busy crowds throughout the day. As we approach our one-year anniversary, we look forward to seeing those same familiar faces in Brighton and to recreating the warmth, energy, and experience we first established in Dorchester.”
Winder said the South Bay spot will “host one last celebration on Thursday, January 29. Details about the event will be shared on The Pearl’s Instagram page in the following days.”
