Fr. Daily, St. Gregory’s pastor for 10 years, to depart

Fr. Vincent Daily

Fr. Vincent Daily, who has served as the pastor of St. Gregory’s parish in Lower Mills since 2008, will leave Dorchester later this summer to begin a new assignment, according to the Pilot, the newspaper of the Boston Archdiocese. Daily will begin his new role on the faculty of Pope St. John XXIII National Seminary in Weston on August 1. Daily told parishioners at a Mass in May that a successor to lead St. Gregory’s parish has not yet been chosen.

Last week, the Pilot reported that Father Garcia Breneville has been appointed to serve as the administrator for St. Matthew and St. Angela Merici in Mattapan, a role set to start on July 1. Daily has been serving as the administrator of the collaborative that includes St. Grgeory, St. Matthew and St. Angela.

The newspaper also reported that Father Paul D. Helfrich has been appointed to serve at St. Christopher parish on Columbia Point, effective Aug. 1. Helfrich will also serve as the campus minister for UMass Boston.
