(UPDATED) Capuano aide pulls papers for Turner seat, 15 others also in signature hunt

Add U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano's district liaison for Dorchester and Roxbury to the list of candidates who have applied for nomination papers. Staffer Candace Sealey joined fifteen others and applied for nomination papers, according to a Boston Elections Department list of potential candidates.

The deadline to apply for papers was Monday at 5 p.m. Signatures - 191 of them - must be turned into the elections department by 5 p.m. Thursday.

Candidates who have formally announced they're running include Tito Jackson, former aide to Gov. Deval Patrick; Natalie Carithers, former aide to state Rep. Willie Mae Allen; former state Rep. Althea Garrison; and Cornell Mills, son of former state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson. Mills, after applying for nomination papers, confirmed his candidacy to the "Blackstonian" blog, a site that has him listed as a so-called "associate editor."

The full list of folks who have applied for nomination papers is below, with the usual caveats: they still have to turn in certified signatures before they make it onto the ballot.

The preliminary election to winnow the field is set for Feb. 15. The final special election is March 15.
