“Murder at Haynes Manor"

Arts Programming - The Club’s Art programming closed out the school year program with two special events last week. On Tuesday, the Theater Club hosted a group of members, family and staff at their play “Murder at Haynes Manor.” Congratulations to the following cast members: Trang Le, Madeline Murphy, Lily Murphy, Lucy Heffernan, Miles Cianci-Smith, Malcolm Summers, Gaby Gold, Ruby Gold, Brooklynn Marcelin, Nashari Davis, Aedan Harasymiw and Starr Marcelin. Two nights later the Fine Arts, Music, Photography and Film programs came together to host the Spring “Arts Bash.” There were displays, a film festival and performances for all to enjoy. Career Prep Program - The Club is pleased to be partnering with the City of Boston’s Department of Youth Engagement & Employment, the Boston Private Industry Council and the M.L.K. Summer Scholars Program with John Hancock this summer to place 100+ deserving teens in meaningful employment. Candidates are currently wrapping up the pre-employment process and will soon begin training to begin their positions in early July. The Career Prep program will also afford participants the opportunity to about learn about careers, college life, financial literacy and create a resume.

Program Awards - Congratulations to our Program Staff who were recognized by the Yankee Chapter of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Professional Association with 4 awards. In the Education category Gique/#Hack Dorchester was the top program, while the Island Hoppers program was tops in the Collobaration category. Media Matters (The Arts) and Tween Scene (Health & Life Skills) took home Honorable Mentions.
