Suspect wanted for June murder at Mattapan barber shop is arrested in NYC

A Dedham man was arrested in New York City on Tuesday and will be charged with killing a Dorchester father inside a Mattapan barber shop last June. The defendant, William Shakespeare, 30, was indicted last year by a Suffolk County Grand Jury. He is alleged to have murdered 31 year-old Marcus Hall inside 1178 Blue Hill Ave., just across the street from the Area B-3 Boston Police station.

Shakespeare was placed into custody without incident in the Bronx with the assistance of US Marshals and NYPD officers and members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit.

Hall was found shot to death around 12:20 p.m. on June 14.

"This arrest illustrates the commitment and extraordinary work of my investigators and officers. It sends a strong message that no matter where you run to, we will find you and we will arrest you," said Commissioner William Evans.
