Bruins, BGCD alumni to face off at Devine Rink benefit

The Boys & Girls Club of Dorchester (BGCD) and a roster of legendary Boston Bruins alumni will face off for the first time in a charity hockey game at the Devine Ice Rink in Dorchester on Sat., Jan. 28 at 4:30 p.m.

The BGCD squad, led by longtime president and CEO Bob Scannell, will skate in a friendly contest featuring the likes of Terry O’Reilly and Rick Middleton. After the game, the teams will gather with friends and fans at 21-plus party at Florian Hall (7 p.m.)— all in support of Dorchester’s kids.

While no current members of the club will take the ice, 15-year-old Mayal Levy will be singing the National Anthem. The BGCD team will include club alumni, staff, volunteers and friends of the club.
The Bruins Alumni roster include Jeff Dumart, Terry O’Reilly, Glen Featherstone, Mike Mottau, Bob Beers, Frank Simonetti, Rich Brennan, Fred Ahern, Rick Middleton, Tim Sweeney, Dan LaCouture, Tom Songin, Andrew Raycroft, Dave Jensen and Mike Sandford.

The Florian Hall party will be a 21-and-over post-game reception with a silent auction, raffles, music, appetizers and a cash bar. The patron sponsors for the event are Pat’s Pizza, Salon Sorores and Great Spaces Real Estate — all of Dorchester.

The doors to the Devine Rink in Neponset will open at 4:15. Tickets for the game only are $10 per person and tickets to both the game and post-reception are $35 per person. Tickets are available online at bgcdbruinshockey.eventbrite.com. Organizers are still looking for auction and raffle items.
