Mattapan Square project meeting postponed

A development team planning to build a mixed-use residential complex on what is now an MBTA parking lot in Mattapan Square will not hold a community meeting in November as previously planned.

In an email sent out on Oct. 25, Nuestra Communidad Development Corporation project manager Lina Jimenez said, “Unfortunately, at this point, we do not feel that we have quite yet developed a site plan that would meet the MBTA’s requirements and the community’s goals for the site and project. Consequently, we still do not have a coordinated site design that could be presented at the meeting to further our discussion and vision for this project,” Jimenez wrote.

The next scheduled meeting date for the project is Tuesday, January 17.

Nuestra Comunidad and the Preservation of Affordable Housing Inc. (POAH) won rights to build on the River Street site after a competitive process earlier this year.
