Dot tyke, 8, snags regional boxing title

Stevie trains out of the Dorchester Boxing Club in Fields Corner with coach Jason Kelly of Savin Hill.

Stevie’s dream is to win a gold medal for the US in the 2024 Olympics, especially if they are held in Boston, according to Danny Kelly, the owner of the gym on Parkman Street.

“We hope to have a repeat of the bout next month at our Boxing Show at Dorchester National Guard Armory,” said Kelly. The event­ set for Saturday, April 18 at 7p.m­ at 70 Victory Rd. “The show will feature up and coming boxers from around the New England area.”

O’Malley out-boxed Josean Diaz from Lawrence for the win last week. O’Malley’s coach Jason Kelly is a professional boxer himself with a 2-0 record coming by way of two first round KO’s. His next pro fight is at the Royale located on Tremont St in Downtown Boston on Saturday, May 16.

In addition to Kelly, the club now has two other undefeated pro fighters, Donnie Palmer, a heavyweight with a 6-0 record; and Brian Walsh 1-0.

The club is opem from 3p.m. to 9pm weekdays and all day Saturdays and Sundays training kids and adults.
