The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will commence milling and paving operations on Morton Street/Route 203 this Sunday night, July 14. Work is expected to last up to four weeks, and will take place during overnight hours.

The work will improve the roadway surface of the 2.1 mile stretch of Morton Street between Gallivan Boulevard and Shea Circle/Forest Hills Rotary. The work will be done in stages to avoid residential areas during weeknights, and parking on Morton Street will be banned in areas where road work is occurring.

Milling Schedule: From July 14 (Sunday night) to July 19 (Friday), crews will mill Morton Street between West Main Street and Shea Circle/Forest Hills Rotary between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night. One travel lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

On July 19 (Friday) and July 20 (Saturday), crews will mill Morton Street between Gallivan Boulevard and West Main Street. Work is scheduled to commence at 7 p.m. and continue until 7 a.m.

Castings will be raised beginning July 22 (Monday) until July 26 (Friday) between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day. One travel lane in each direction will remain open.

Paving Schedule: From July 28 (Sunday) to August 2 (Friday), crews will pave Morton Street between West Main Street and Shea Circle/Forest Hills Rotary between the hours of 7 p.m. and 5 a.m.

On August 2 (Friday) and August 3 (Saturday), crews will pave the final stretch between Gallivan Boulevard and West Main Street from 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

This schedule is subject to change if MassDOT is able to accelerate the work required.

Morton Street between Norfolk and Evans streets will be done as part of the Morton Street Bridge replacement next year.
